Founded in 2000, The University of Montana Equestrian Team is an inviting, educational and competitive team for riders of all levels. As a member team of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association we ride both hunt seat equitation and jumping, as well as western equitation and reining.

 

Team members are encouraged to join our competition team and compete against other schools from around the Montana, Idaho and Utah region. While the team is, by foundation, a show team we encourage non-competitive members to join, ride for fun and increase their equine education.

 

The show season begins in early fall and runs through mid- to late spring. There are approximately seven show weekends throughout the school year with opportunities for qualifying riders to compete at the zone and national championship levels.

 

 

UMET offers weekly lessons and participates in different activities and fundraisers throughout the year. You do not need your own horse to be a member - the team owns several that you will have the privilege of riding and learning with.
